“Laughter is timeless, imagination has no age, and dreams are forever.”

You are never too old for a Disney movie.

Ever since 1923 Disney has been inspiring so many people through their movies, songs and even their theme parks. They have expanded their company all over the world and are one of the most iconic brands ever.

Disney will forever have a place in our hearts. From a young age they have taught us so many things about life such as:

“You just need to believe in yourself.” – Rex, from Toy Story 2

“Sometimes the right path is not the easiest one.” – Grandmother Willow, Pocahontas

“No matter how your heart is grieving, if you keep on believing, the dream that you wish will come true.” – Cinderella, Cinderella

They have always told us to follow our heart and listen to our dreams, because that is what will make us happy and we all deserve our very own happy ending.

Disney has invaded our hearts and our lives for over the last 90 years and they will continue to do so for the rest of our lives. They will continue to grow and expand and their brand will grow along with that. Soon every person will grow up and grow old with Disney always at their disposal in so many different mediums.

We will always feel a certain connection to the movies we grew up with and the ones we continue to watch and love. No matter how old we get they will still hold a special place in our hearts and we will continue to share the joy they gave us with those whom we love most. This brand will continue to thrive for many, many more years to come.

04_top10disneycontroversies

Disney is one of the biggest corporations in the world and it has been around for over 90 years, so it has had its fair share of controversies.

Most of the controversies come from their movies and how some things can be perceived as inappropriate. They have been unpopular for supposedly insinuating racial stereotypes, ill-chosen designs and the ever ongoing unfair portrayal of women.

For example in the movie, “Alice and Wonderland, while a well-regarded children’s movie, is teeming with references to drug use,” (therichest.com).

Even with some of our most beloved movies, that have since then become musicals, have some sorts of controversies tied to them, like Aladdin. “Aladdin and Princess Jasmine, although they are ethnic leads, have noticeably light skin along with distinguishable western facial features, contrasting heavily with other characters in the film – the villains of the tale have much more pronounced ethnic features,” (therichest.com).

There are also many issues with the Disney Princesses. They are described as weak, love sick women and when men are attracted to them it is always lead on by appearance. But once Disney comes out with princesses who are independent strong women, such as Tiana from the Princess and the Frog and Rapunzel from Tangled, they are criticized for it.

While I am well aware of all of these controversies there is sill a certain magic that Disney portrays and I will continue to be in awe of everything they do and go buy the newest movie as soon as it hits the stores.

Even with all of these controversies you can’t help but love Disney. We have grown up with all of their wonderful stories and lovable characters, so in my opinion no matter what they do we all will continue to love them for the rest of our lives.

It all started with a Dream

Back in the 1920’s brothers Roy and Walt Disney had a dream which was to enrich the USA with a good laugh. They started The Disney Brothers Studio in 1923, and by 1928 we got our first glimpse of Mickey Mouse. From there on they have continued to expand and put their foot in the door of many different areas like theme parks, movies, musicals, TV shows, games and even other countries.

Disney has one of the most iconic brands ever. When you see things like this,

1

or this,

2

don’t you just get all giddy inside? Their brand is so recognizable that with even just one letter you can instantly tell what it is.

3

This brand is one of the best because of the meaning behind it. Disney is able to bring you back to your childhood no matter how old you are, and it reminds you dreams can come true. It opens up your imagination and helps you remember what it was like to have no worries for the rest of your days and just enjoy life to the fullest. Disney appeals to both young and old, male and female, lovers and fighters, they have a very wide range for their target audience but it works.

The messages that Disney movies teach us are unforgettable, it is one of their campaigns that will never go away. They teach us that if you work hard you can accomplish anything, you can do amazing things, follow your heart and your dreams will come true and no matter who you are or where you come from you will be loved. We already know these things but to teach our younger generations these ideals about life through movies, that they see as fun, is a great thing. Empowering people may not have been Disney’s original intent but throughout the years they have done just that and so much more.

Disney, Where Dreams Come True

What do you think of when you think of Disney? I know I think of Mickey Mouse, roller coasters, fun, summer and the fact that my movie collection has every single Disney princess movie ever. Everyone knows who they are, but do we really know everything that they have done?

According to their website, “The Walt Disney Company, together with its subsidiaries and affiliates, is a leading diversified international family entertainment and media enterprise with five business segments: media networks, parks and resorts, studio entertainment, consumer products and interactive media,” (The Walt).

It all started back in 1923 when brothers Walt and Roy Disney wanted to to become the leaders of animation in America. On October 16, 1923 the Disney company was born, originally known as The Disney Brothers Studio. Five years later , in 1928, Mickey Mouse was first introduced in Steamboat Willie, and after that the Disney corporation exploded, not literally.

Since then they have created feature-length animated films in color, their first being Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. They have opened up theme parks in California, Florida, Tokyo, Paris and Hong Kong, and invested themselves whole-heartedly in the ideal that they want to be a place where all of your dreams can come true.

Disney has also acquired many companies and other things over the years such as ABC, Fox Family Channel, the Muppets, Marvel Entertainment and Lucasfilm Ltd. LLC.

Disney is worthy of study because they are invested in many different outlets of the entertainment spectrum. Theme parks, publishing company, music, sports and TV are just a few of the ways that they are impacting our society.

They have, and will always, value knowing that they are bringing life and joy into the lives of the people who watch, read, listen and visit Disney.
